Rexenera Fest is back!
Carballo International Festival of Public Art will take place between July 16 and 26, with 5 artists from Madrid, Catalonia, Galicia and the Basque Country
Carballo hosts the Rexenera Fest once again! The public art festival will celebrate its sixth edition between Thursday, July 16 and Sunday, July 26 with five artists. This event is usually held every year at the end of May, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced to postpone the festival that always invades Carballo with sprays and brushes and that splashes the town walls with color.
Finally, we can announce that Rexenera may be held, although with all the security and prevention measures required by the health situation. Thus, the festival will consist exclusively of painting five large-format murals, since the organization dispenses with the parallel activities that filled the schedule in each edition (concerts, conferences, master classes …). Nonetheless, the organization has planned to hold some online events that will be announced in days to come.
As for the artists invited to paint the walls, they all come from different regions in Spain. They are from Madrid, Catalonia, Galicia and the Basque Country. Here are their names:
- Xoana Almar (Galicia)
- Sabek (Madrid)
- Elisa Capdevila (Cataluña)
- Reskate Studio (Cataluña / Euskadi)
- Sokram (Galicia)
The festival
For a week in spring, the Rexenera Fest brings together several artists from the best of the Galician, Spanish and international scene in the world of urban art. During the celebration of the festival, the invited artists work simultaneously in different locations which residents and visitors of Carballo can approach. They can appreciate the ability and skill of the participants and observe in situ the artistic process of each artwork.
One more year we can enjoy a festival that leaves some spectacular works of art that contribute to remove part of the ugliness of the town streets . They help “building” new spaces full of colors and shapes. In the end an avant-garde and embellished image is created that over time has become one of the main tourist resources in Carballo.
