Sabek has titled the mural that he painted in Carballo during Rexenera Fest 2020 as “Resilience”. The meaning of resilience is the ability to overcome traumatic circumstances and in this mural, Sabek works on this definition as an enhancer of happiness. The image refers to the present and the complicated reality that we are experiencing due to COVID-19. It represents a great feline that licks its wounds as an act of self-healing, so it can get out of that suffering strongly reinforced. These wounds are seen as a learning test that should lead it to gain consciousness and wisdom.
In his mural works, Sabek achieves a great visual impact through his synthetic figures and saturated masses of color, often with the main figure of an animal as the protagonist. In this case, the leopard and the symbolism of certain natural elements, which hide subtle added meanings, work perfectly together, enhancing each other through the contrast between the mass of black and the vibrant colors used in the rest of the composition.
