Entropies and dystopias
- Sokram (Sokram )
During Rexenera Fest 2020 Sokram created the mural “Entropías e distopías” (“Entropies and dystopias”). In the artist’s words: “There are those people who value the material above all else, prioritizing the accumulation of the greatest possible amount of goods throughout their lives. Something that supposedly brings them a sense of satisfaction and security for the present and the future. There are also others who see time as the only true treasure that we have, the one thing that we can use to develop what truly makes us feel passion, balancing us and making us grow inside … So much so that it makes them forget everything that is unimportant … like shaving for instance. ”
In this mural, Sokram is talking about vital balance and fugacity, priorities and juggling, in a spiral that we cannot stop from spinning. But we can, perhaps, choose which elements to keep and which ones we give all the value and priority they deserve. This idea is reinforced by a weightless horror vacui in which all the elements seem to float in space around the main figure, which acts as a common thread and link between them. We find golden symbols that represent a conceptual juggling game. And they contrast with the cold and deep tones that represent the uncertain creative universe. Everything makes sense thanks to an accurate and omnipresent theme that provides the coherence and concreteness necessary for the entire composition. The mural is located at 71, Milagrosa Avenue.
