The Rexenera Fest fills with colours Carballo’s summer

The international public art festival will be held between July 16 and 26 with 5 artists from Madrid, Catalonia, Galicia and the Basque Country

Carballo hosts the Rexenera Fest once again! The public art festival will celebrate its sixth edition between Thursday, July 16 and Sunday, July 26, 2020 with five guest artists. The event is usually held every year at the end of May, but the COVID-19 pandemic has forced to postpone the festival that always invades Carballo with brushes, rollers and sprays and that fills the town walls with colour. Finally, the Rexenera will be held with all the safety and prevention measures required by the health situation.

And although, precisely because of the health situation, the festival was scheduled to consist exclusively of the painting of five large-format murals, some parallel activities will finally be held. We will have guided tours – with very small groups for the sake of safety – to see the evolution of the murals day by day; Instragram live to watch conversations with the artists; or games for boys and girls and also for adults that will help, in a playful way, to a better understanding of urban art and of the more than 75 murals in Carballo.

Guest artists

As for the artists invited to paint the walls, they all come from different regions in Spain. They are from Madrid, Catalonia, Galicia and the Basque Country. Here are their names:

Parallel activities

CLUE GAME FOR FAMILIES: for free with prior registration.

Playing this game, adults and children will share moments of fun while learning more about Carballo’s urban art and they will see the town with different eyes.

GOLD HUNT: for free with prior registration.

This game is a particular treasure hunt where the participants will have to immerse themselves fully in the urban art works spread throughout the streets of Carballo. On their way, they will have to solve clues and decipher the misteries lying underneath the murals to reach the goal and find the desired gold.

DATE: July 24.
SCHEDULE: from 19.00 to 21.00 h.
PLACE: picking up of the first clue at Museo de Bergantiños (8, Martin Herrera Street).

SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE OVER 14 YEARS OLD

GUIDED TOURS: for free with prior registration.

During the celebration of the festival, there will be guided tours so that people can observe the evolution of the murals while the artists are painting them.
