“Big Trash Animals” is the series of works in which Bordalo II, a Lisbon artist, focuses his current work by means of sculptures and high relief murals made exclusively from rubbish. His works represent mother nature, reflected through his rubbish animals, which are built precisely with everything that destroys them.

Bordalo II definition of rubbish is: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. In this context, his pieces implicitly express the need to become aware of the harmful habits of this extremely consumerist, materialistic and greedy society whilst inviting us to reflect on the unstoppable drift of exponential growth that the planet is facing.
